AEW Collision 7-29-22 - FTR vs. MJF and Adam Cole for Tag Team Gold

 

This isn't the most loaded show, but it's got a hell of a main event that should shape up either ALL IN or ALL OUT fairly well. Better Than You BAYBAY hypes up the DOUBLE CLOTHESLINE and oh yeah, Andrade vs. Buddy is a ladder match. Boy those ladder bumps better be worth it. Buddy is ungodly huge and Andrade has picked now to not wear the Black Mask cosplay and instead dressed like Mini-Diesel if he was in the United Empire. Moonsault OFF THE LADDER by Andrade before they just chuck ladders at each other. 

Apron warfare teases a big fall before they just hit on the ladder with an Andrade suicide spear on the ladder bridge! Okay, it looks like that was turned into a DDT by Buddy! Andrade hits the goofy Judas Effect and sends him on the ladder bridge on the other side. SUNSET BOMB ON THE LADDER BRIDGE! Julia looks on shocked and the heels handcuff him before a chair kick lets him get the key...well that did a lot of good. Andrade locks Buddy up and Julia GETS BOLT CUTTERS! She leaves them with Buddy, who frees himself while she's up with Andrade. She slaps him a few times and gets shoved off into Buddy through a corner table. Andrade wins and it's TOTHEBACK! Miro brawls with Aaron Solow before Darby's out.

Darby's out to face MINORU SUZUKI IN AN UNHYPED MATCH!? Why is Suzuki coming out and flying across the globe for matches to not at least be advertised? Darby shotgun dropkicks him and dives quickly. Darby slaps him and gets a YOU FUCKED UP chant before eating an overhand Wahoo chop. Chop combo from Darby before a Code Red gets 2. Springboard coffin drop hits, the full-on leads to an RNC, but he Bret counters him and wins it!

Christian calls him out and says he has too much going on. Toni says that Shida was the pandemic champ and like that, we're all glad it's over and they're going to beat the piss out of each other. Joe's busting out black and orange and it isn't even Legally Not Halloween Havoc yet! Why not just have a show called Fright Fest? Joe vs. Gravity is up and Joe just demolishes him quickly and dances while doing so. Muscle buster ends it and wow was that a weird one since Gravity could get a shot via the tourney.

Tony Schiavone brings out CM Punk, who has a new shirt and his red bag. I would laugh if he pulls the WWE Title replica from his fridge out of the bag here. It won't happen - but it would be hilarious. Punk brings up Wembley Stadium and he wants to go there and the bag involves Wembley. Starks beat him in a singles and beat Darby in a tag. He says he's the responsible adult and he pulls out the belt and says that no one has pinned him or submitted him for this title. It's still covered in his blood from All Out. He spraypaints a black X on the main plate and it means HE'S STRAIGHT EDGE AND HE'S BETTER THAN YOU!

Starks comes out and tells them to forget they saw him, so Nigel does just that and feigns shock. Starks does a long intro and Punk looks at his wrist and they bicker and Starks wants a shot. Punk says he doesn't blame the ref - which is logic right out of Mid-South and Punk wants a special ref. Punk says he doesn't blame the ref - which is logic right out of Mid-South with Bill Watts saying that if he blamed the ref for his losses, he might as well credit him with his wins. Punk says he'll give him a shot next week. RICKY STEAMBOAT WILL BE THE REF IN JIM CROCKETT TERRITORY! Ian went overboard talking about Steamboat was always so straight-laced, so he seems pegged for a turn with Punk.

Juice and the Gunns are out to face Vikingo, Andretti, and Darius Martin. Vikingo hits a superkick during a break. Vikingo climbs on his partners' hands for a standing swanton to the floor...as ya do. 3:10 to Yuma ends it for the Gunns! Fun, short match. I love them celebrating with a cutout of Jay White! Keira Hogan's out in super-colorful gear that makes her stand out a lot more to face Mercedes Martinez. Mercedes is a great bitter heel bully. Nice sliding dropkick by Hogan in the corner gets 2. Running...shuffling forearm to the neck sets up the dragon sleeper Romero special for the win. Stat runs down for the save. She leaves the belt laying to attend to Hogan and Martinez takes her out with it. THE HAPPIEST HUMAN ON EARTH WILLOW saves! 

If this was Mid-South, Bill Watts would have got a sentence in about MJF passing word that he'll talk about CM Punk next week - tonight's focus is on the tag titles. FTR gets booed and MJF gets a BASH HIS NUTS chant going. MJF goes for a hot tag and gets grabbed and gets a DOUBLE DDT before tagging in. This is the simplest 1986 Memphis tag formula match ever and it's fantastic! Pump Kick and the ushigoroshi gets 2! Dax dives into a superkick for 2.5. Wheeler wants a tombstone, but Cole superkicks him and MJF gets a victory roll for 2! 

DOUBLE CLOTHESLINE prevented by Dax and Dash hits a big discus lariat. Panama Sunrise avoided for the Powerplex. Slingshot ligerbomb by Dax on MJF gets 2! Cole puts Dax in a shattered dreams position and MJF kicks him but only gets 2 when Cash saves. Back and forth and MJF LOSES TO AN O'CONNOR ROLL BY DAX! Dax pins the world champ - which should make for a good TV match.

Max grabs the belt. Cole, not an idiot, WATCHES THE TRON TO SEE MJF tease an attack. MJF hugs him! 

AEW Collision 7-22-23 - Acclaimed Vie for Trios Titles

The show starts off with Billy and the Acclaimed doing their SNME-style promo before the BBG says that the Gunns have new shirts. Starks says it's time to celebrate and starts things off with his belt. Starks gets a minute-long pyro display to set up the heel act being so full of himself. He says using the ropes doesn't matter - he wins how he can like always and Punk asks him if he can live with the win. Starks says his Louis' as empty as the bag Punk's had. Punk asks him if he wants a shot at what's in the bag because HE'S THE REAL WORLD'S CHAMPION!

Christian comes out and says that is taking too long and he wants to get out of Jersey as quickly as possible because they're all a bunch of sweathogs. Darby talks shit and says that Christian doesn't even wrestle anymore and Christian mocks Punk for holding a belt without being the champ! Punk and Darby face Cage and Starks. Andrade is escorted out by security...and Rhett Titus, who is just security now. White and Juice face Andretti and Darius Martin. Jay dominates before the heels eat some dropkicks and armdrags. Martin gets 2 off a froggy crossbody. Left Hand of God from Juice, the half and half, the pendulum DDT and Blade Runner end it. 

Willow vs. Athena gets a recap from the ROH PPV before MIRO IS OUT TO DESTROY SOMEONE! ONLY NOT SINCE IT'S NICK COMORATO AND HE JUMPS MIRO! Comorato destroys him for a long time, but misses a corner charge and the Machka kick/Game Over combo end it. THIS RULED! House of Black are out and they have Andrade's mask. Buddy busts up the rap and BRODY KING AND DADDY ASS GET TO CLUBBERIN! Babyface in peril before DADDY ASS RUNS DOWN DUDES! The End hits and HOB WINS!? Wow didn't see that happening. He takes the boots off. Shocking result - but DAMN WAS BILLY GUNN THE STAR HERE. Wow. Sad he didn't win a title and that's saying something since I've watched him for 30 years and he got himself over huge again.

FTR promo about him knowing how fake MJF is due to the Pinnacle and when he was a kid, he had to get a job and the punk kids who mocked him remind me a lot of MJF. Then he rambled on for seemingly 757 years before things just ended. WOW that was something. Skye Blue's out to face Taya, who dominates her before the break. The deathlock curb stomp ends it and she calls out Britt for Dynamite. AR Fox highlight reel from the Zero Hour of DBD ahead of his International Title match on Dynamite. 

Punk and Christian go at it with Punk in his red and black gear and Christian's here in his turtleneck gear. HEADLOCK TAKEOVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR by Christian on Punk! Punk hits a plancha before eating a Starks punch off the top to the ribs. DARBY SUICIDE DIVES ONTO DARBY AND LUCHASAURUS SWATS HIM DOWN! 

DARBY SENT CHRISTIAN TO THE FLOOR AND MADE HIM TAKE A BUMP! THAT EVIL LITTLE FUCKER! Corner bulldog/clothesline combo! PEPSI TWIST HITS FOR 2! Punk gets the elbow for 2 before Starks comes in for back and forth forearms. Darby's in and eats a mid-air spear to...the balls before the Roshambo gets 2! Superplex by Starks leads to a super deathdrop. Punk GTSes Cage on the floor and Starks wins with a Bret-Davey rollup AND THE ROPES win it! And they got like a frame of the finish. This was a great 18 match spread over a good 30 minute match - HHH would be proud.

AEW Dynamite 6-21-23

 

We're starting off with the Hardys vs. the Gunns! Matt bullies Austin into the corner and smacks his ass. Colten gets a suplex for 2 on Jeff. Colten rolls out and Austin rolls him in and tags in - good spot there. Austin eats a twist of fate from Matt and Colt puts his foot on the rope to get 2. Jeff tags in and gets a double DDT and a double legdrop to the balls of both Gunns. Jeff goes for a swanton but BC Gold shoves him off and 3:10 to Yuma ends it! Juice slugs Jeff with a roll of quarters and Starks saves Matt! FTR is out for a brawl! Punk's out for Juice, but he escapes the GTS. 

Concession stand brawl time! Jarrett sells tortillas, hot dog buns, and sausages. Karen gets involved before Sonjay shoves Mark off a ladder. This feels like it should be for the TNA Legends/Global/World TV/King of the Mountain Title. Lethal and Sonjay result in this being a brawl in the ring too. PAPA BRISCOE CHOKESLAM! Singh chokeslams Briscoe before Daniels and the Best Friends eat offense. LUCHA BROS SEND HIM DOWN! Penta superkick leads to a schoolboy finish by Mark. Well this was certainly not boring.

Mox says that there are only three letters that matter - BCC - they define pro wrestling and they have an elite team for Forbidden Door! Five on five match against the Elite at FD. Danielson isn't impressed by Okada, who couldn't even be bothered to show up here. Collision hype video shows it off as a big event. Jericho, Sammy and Suzuki are out for the trios tag against AR Fox, Andretti, and Darius Martin. Darius squares off with Suzuki, who slugs him down with a forearm. Great bit with Suzuki and Jericho posing before Fox runs wild a bit. Fox takes out the heels before Andretti gets 2 on Jericho. Choke and piledriver by Suzuki to AR! Basement flatliner by Darius to Jericho gets 2. Liontamer by Jericho taps out Martin while Suzuki has an ankle lock on the floor.

REMARKABLE Renee is mid-ring and Jericho cuts a promo on Sting - the first time ever they were together in the ring was last week and says he's just a whore who shows up for the highest bidder. LE SUZUKI GODS are challenging Sting, Darby, and a partner for Forbidden Door. Darby and Sting come out and the partner will be announced at Collision. Tony and RJ do a skit for the blind eliminator. No one's announced...okay this is annoying now. Elite is backstage with Cutler and accept the challenge. Kingston says he's not their friend and doesn't respect them - but he hates Claudio more than them. He's picking the fifth guy...but not now. 

Cole comes out and calls Max a coward. The crowd tells Max to shut the fuck up and he says no. Max also says no to a rematch and Cole says he figure he'd say that and TONY HAS AN ANNOUNCEMENT,,, Both of them say SHUT UP SCHIAVONE and Tony says that Cole was the first name and the second was MJF! Tana keeps his challenge going and MJF says he won't face him and Cole calls him a coward and MJF accepts. Owen tourney is announced and will have Punk vs. Kojima on PPV.

OC and Shibata time! Excalibur talks about Shibata's near-death experience and here he is! Daniel Garcia actually has a solo theme! ZSJ is so great as TV Champ. ZSJ gets the better of Shibata a bit with a triangle. More fun with ZSJ and OC with ZSJ getting pissed and tagging in Garcia. SHIBATA AND ZSJ FUN TIME with uppercuts aplenty and then a Pele to the arm by ZSJ! Uppercuts and forearms to Garcia! Garcia's lip is busted and he does the Shibata pose for the lazy kicks from the faces.

BACK TO BACK CORNER BASEMENT DROPKICKS BY SHIBATA! DRAGON TAMER TO SHIBATA turned into a heel hook, but ZSJ neck snaps him. ORANGE PUNCH HITS SHIBATA BY MISTAKE and a Garcia schoolboy ends it! Wow - shocking result there! Big win for Garcia! Garcia grabs OC's belt and ZSJ wants it to. ALL FOUR MEN GO AT IT FOR THE INTERNATIONAL TITLE AT FORBIDDEN DOOR!

Ospreay says he's used to first-class security and being in first-class countries, not Canada. DON CALLIS IS CANADIAN and he knows that folks in Toronto are like Americans and he has a private security team he'll bring to Forbidden Door for him. Willow vs. Toni Storm hype video for a Forbidden Door World Title match. KS vs. Taya is up for the TBS Title. Nice clubs to start before they go to the floor. KS hits..ish...a shooting star reverse DDT...yeah that needs to not be done again. Double-down off a high kick from each. Samoan driver gets 2 for KS. Wednesday Night Fever tombstone ends it. Okay that was a match. TANA VS SWERVE ON COLLISION!

Kingston announces Ishiii with Claudio and Eddie brawling. Danielson threatens to stomp Ishiii in and then OKADA SAVES! STAREDOWN and Yuta jumps Okada! Busaiku but OKADA DUCKS AND YUTA EATS IT. Danielson avoids the Rainmaker! YUTA DOESN'T! 

AEW Collision 6-17-23 Debut

 

CM Punk's big return happens here in a trios tag and we'll see just how much he means because the show feels a bit cold despite being given throwback marketing with a Nitro-style logo and WCW-era TNT logo color scheme. Punk comes out and there's no Nitro theming to the stage design, but the ring colors evoke Nitro a bit. Punk says it's the pro wrestling BUSINESS! He is the truth and the truth is painful!

Wardlow vs. Luchasaurus is up for the opener and Wardlow's singlet is distracting. What a plodding match when they could have a shorter all-action one instead. Christian is a great manager and wrestler still - very versatile in both roles. Wardlow hits a big headbutt and then bites the thumb ala Arn! Kevin brings up that there have been 81 TNT Title matches and 18 title changes in those 81 matches. Powerlomb symphony begins, but Luchasaurus puts a stop to it with a chokeslam for 2! 

Big powerslam off a tombstone by Lucharaurus and then a swanton! Christian hits him with a camera and Luchasaurus bulldogs him to win it! Cage celebrates with the gold and QT and Hobbs say it's time for redemption and he's winning the Owen Hart Cup and taking what's his! Andrade vs. Matthews is up and the Murphy name is used and Andrade's name is butchered big-time by Kevin Kelly twice. Both of these guys are just enormous. Andrade hits a cartwheel moonsault off the apron and a big rana sending Matthews into the barricade. Matthews meteora gets 2. 

Double-down with doctors checking on Matthews' knee and Andrade's arm leading to a lot of dragon screws after the match from Andrade. Double moonsault hits for 2 for Andrade! Draping DDT gets 2 for Murphy. Sunset bomb by Matthews leads to the knee "going out" and Andrade capitalizing. RUNNING JUDAS EFFECT HITS! Figure 4 into the FIGURE 8 GETS THE WIN! Okay, this was a fantastic match that made you care about both guys - easily Andrade's best work in AEW yet. Andrade wants a handshake and the lights go out to reveal the entire House of Black. 

Scorpio Sky hype video showcases him as a former Tag Team and TNT Champion. Miro is up next. Tony Nese tells the crowd to exercise and HERE COMES MIRO TO KILL HIM! Miro's out in black kickfighting shorts and looks like a badass! Nese does jumping jacks on the floor before Miro does Sheamus' chest clubs and hits the fallaway slam! Machaka kick but Mark gets hit and Nese eats the fallaway uranage! GAME OVER WINS IT!

Toni and Ruby are eat to face Willow and Skye Blue and Ruby seems to exist here to lose. MAMA BLUE SLAPS THE HEELS! Toni slugs the back before some ground pound from Ruby. Cloverleaf is on Skye but unlike on Wednesday, she powers out! Spraypaint to the face is just...legal now...and the Code Blue wins it. Daddy Ass went from being Cute Kip to a retro Outlaw to now being bigger than ever physically and more over than he's been since 1999 and got his kids over on TV too. Good for him. "We stole more hearts than Trump stole documents!"  They want the trios tag titles, we're getting a blind eliminator tourney for the mainline tags and more hype for Dynamite with Suzuki working in a tag!

Joe gets a new TV Title belt and we start off with Jay and Dax before Juice tags in and gets chopped. Double-up for a Cash powerslam aka the Roadies' secondary finish gets 2 for Punk. JOE VS PUNK GO AT IT ONE MORE TIME! Cash lands a corner 10 count on Juice before Punk gets a hot tag. Corner knee/bulldog/lariat combo to BC Gold. Jay rakes the eyes to avoid a GTS and the Sambo suplex hits for 2.9! Powerplex by FTR and then Punk gets the Savage elbow for 2.5.

JOE VS. PUNK WITH FOERARMS! Corner charge misses for Joe and Punk gets the knee! GTS INTO THEH CLUTCH BY JOE! MID-RING CHOKE AND THE FACES GET HELD! Cash hits a tornado DDT and...just runs into someone on the apron and then Dax headbutts Joe. SHATTER MACHINE AND GTS END IT! Punk and FTR celebrate and JR apologizes for his voice.

AEW Dynamite 6-7-23 - Swerve vs. Orange Cassidy

It's a fairly loaded lineup from an episodic perspective tonight. You've got intrigue for the International Title match between Swerve and Orange alongside a possible tease of Jack Perry going heel against Hook in the tornado tag against Vance and Dralistico. Swerve vs. OC starts things off hot! Swerve gets a quick edge, but can't maintain it. OC gets an octopus and Swerve gets sent out and puts his hands in his waistband and lands a hard shot into the barricade. 

TOPE BY OC and then a crossbody! Rolling thunder flatliner hits hard for Swerve! DEATH VALLEY DRIVER ON THE APRON BY SWERVE! OC lands a sick DDT on the floor and a diving DDT! IT ONLY GETS 2! Swerve wants a pop-up powerbomb, but eats a rana for another 2! Orange punch and the beach break hit for 2.9! 

Swerve lands a brainbuster and an OC crucifix gets 2! SWERVE STOMP HITS FOR 2.999999! Swerve cheats for a high-stack cradle, but SO DOES OC AND HIS CRADLE WINS! These near-victories are absolutely incredible! The Mogul Embassy jumps OC! STING AND DARBY HIT THE LIGHTS AND MAKE A SAVE FOR OC! Okay, this trios team as trios champs would be a riot just to give Sting one last title. Ricky vs. Jay White is hyped up and Starks says that White's past doesn't control his future. Bryan comes out to hype up the Okada match and the line about him being in the desert - WHERE THERE AIN'T NO RAIN is an all-timer.

BCC is out to face the Best Friends and Romero of Chaos! Faces jump the heels! Yuta takes a beating and keeps getting tagged in with a hurt neck. Or not. Yutes wins it. Bucks and Hangman call out the BCC and they call them out for DC next week. Omega vs. Ospreay hype video! MJF is out to be a dick and calls them all drug addicts. They say he sucks so he says they swallow and no one's on the level of the devil. BOOM! MJF says that Cole was an ROH guy and it was full of indy jabronis! Cole was the only guy he could stand and he loved him in NXT and shocked the system there too. He was the greatest NXT Champ ever and HBK's hand-picked guy. Now he just does Twitch and avoids the sun looking like a virgin gollum! Britt leaves the house with his balls in her purse! Also, he's so frail that crack whores are jealous. 

MJF talks about Cole leaving because someone named VINCE MCMAHON didn't think Cole had top guy potential - and MJF's a big fan of his! Cole says that they should go backstage and piss in some cups and see who's natural and who's not before they start body-shaming. Cole says he's been bad before and he's respected - no one respects MJF. MJF says he'll cry into his money about it and that's a lot of tough talk coming from Keith Lee's manager. MJF says he'll wrestle him any day of the week and beat his ass!

Hardy Party talks to Page and tells him to apologize to Brother Zay. Matt wants to take All Ego and make him a better man. LFI jumps JungleHook! Nice crossfaces on the stage before Preston gets sliced open. NASTY exploder! He almost dropped Dralistico on that due to slipping on the blood. JACK CHAIRSHOTS PRESTON AND HOOK EXPLODERS HIM OFF THE APRON THROUGH TWO TABLES! Jose comes in and gets Redrum'd before the snare trap taps out Dralistico!

Collision's first main event sees Joe and the BC Gold face FTR and Punk. Takeshita gets a nice squash win against Damon Ace. Takeshita has a great swagger as a heel. V TRIGGER ENDS IT! Backstage, Christian Cage has had Luchasaurus take out Brock Anderson. Statlander defends the TBS Title against Anna Jay. Daddy Magic is in a delightful 1995 jacket, but can't help bring Anna Jay victory! Queenslayer choke is led into the buckle before a discus lariat hits for Kris! Kris whips her around on it again and the tombstone ends it! Backstage, Penelope Ford looks on angrily!

Storm faces the winner of the Rampage fatal 4 way in DC! STING RETURNS TO WRESTLE IN DC and Cole vs. MJF is up in an eliminator! Starks vs. White is up and it's all-action! SPEAR IS MET WITH A KNEE, but a second one hits hard! Roshambo but the ref is hit by White's foot! THE GUNNS HIT 4-10 TO YUMA AND THEY'RE BC GOLD! Blade runner hits - this was a lot of fun!
