I have absolutely no recollection of this show, but it's been nominated on The F4W/WO Board as the post-Main Event show to watch, so let's give it a shot. The 2000 edition of GAB was my final WCW PPV, and I don't think I've ever seen the '99 version. A white limo is ALL UP IN OUR AREA with the No Limit Soldiers. Master P meets with Curt Hennig - HE'S BOUT IT BOUT IT! I love him destroying the CD and then Master P hides behind Swoll, who lives up to his name. This Nash-Savage video is ridiculous. "YOU'RE A STUPID PERSON!" "RANDY, PUT DOWN THE BUCKET! Savage and Nash recreate Taker-Stephanie leading to THE WHITE HUMMER ANGLE! Mike Tenay putting over Master P as THE MOST DIVERSE ENTERTAINER OF OUR TIME is just surreal. WHAT IN THE FUCK IS THIS VIDEO PACKAGE!? THERE'S 500 THOUSAND THINGS GOING ON IN IT! We've got Disco-Buff, Sting-Rick Steiner, Hak-Knobs, and Savage-Nash. Hart's reforming the First Family - well good for him. This Bash-filled set is pretty awesome.
Knobs is out with a white, pink, and black Nasty shirt and a vest. Knobs as a singles guy is odd, but this is the right division for him. Knobs promised his wife he'd destroy Hak tonight and changes this from a Kendo Stick match to a hardcore one, I think. Chastity's all dressed up in a nice dress and still looks like a sleazy stripper. Hak has a shitty theme and a generic entrance - at least WWE let him keep the entrance and changed the theme to something that was catchy. Okay, so Knobs doesn't want a hardcore match - he just wants to wail on him with his fists. Knobs attacks Hak and Tenay says IT'S THE FIRST SWERVE OF THE NIGHT! Pitty city leads to clubbering, ladder shots, and chair shots.
I love Hak's flip bump for the ladder in the corner. Knobs does the Funk ladder bit. Knobs gets tossed into the ladder, but Hak misses a somersault dive onto it. Knobs tries to send Hak into a chair held by Hart, but Hak reverses and Knobs brains himself leading to a cane shot for the win. BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE! Hugh Morrus is out for a spike piledriver. Because this opener really needed this stuff. Fun match. Moonsault onto the ladder onto Hak. What a stupid-ass move - PUT THE LADDER UNDERNEATH THE GUY! Knobs comes off with a flying can splash, crunching it into his own stomach over the ladder. What a stupid set of spots.
Piper and Buff are backstage saying shit. Buff looks like a goof with a yellow beanie on. Mikey's out in his fantastic shirt to face Van Hammer. Hammer's theme is sadly not his '92 one, but one of the regular WCW rotating ones - it's a good song though. They lock up and do basic chain wrestling for God knows what reason since neither guy is good at it. Nice-looking legdrop from Hammer gets 2 since he doesn't cover - guys doing a legdrop with Hogan in a company and not getting a win always seems odd. It really undermines Hogan's finisher. Okay, Hammer cheated with the ropes on an abdominal stretch, so he's the heel. Hammer gets a spinebuster and a cobra clutch slam for a win. This sucked.
Disco's out to face Buff, whose theme was one of the few that really worked in the WWF as well. This gimmick has to be the best gimmick makeover in WCW history. Disco focuses on dancing, while Buff punches away. Tenay says that since Disco's already been TV champ, he's already got one-up on Buff - which is a valid point. Tony congratulates people for graduating from high school, leading to Bobby, a 7th grade dropout, saying "don't forget the famous saying - do you want fries with that?" Bobby truly did overachieve to an epic degree. Disco gets the stunner on the floor and celebrates like a moron. Disco teases a piledriver while they talk about the bad neck. Disco does the macarena and gets backdropped for it. Disco avoids the Blockbuster, so Buff waits for him to get up to do it again and get the win.
Hennig and Duncum Jr. are out and both Tenay and Tony are just astonished that Hennig recorded a song. Tony QUOTES DJ AND GETTIN ALL UP IN YA AREA! Rey and Konnan are out in gas masks, and Konnan is in red overalls. Master P is the CEO of No Limit Records, Clothing, Films, AND Toys! Thanks Mike! Rey went HOOTY HOO. This is such a fucking time capsule. Konnan lifts Rey into kicking Bobby to the floor - nice spot. Duncum looks at least 10 years older than he should. Master P cheapshots Hennig! Tony puts over the No Limit Records and Tommy Boy Records deals they've signed. Hennig bonks Rey's knee into Bobby's knee in the corner. Rey as the face in peril here is perfect. Perfect dropkick sends him down hard. Hennig lifts him up high for an inverted atomic drop that looks fantastic. THEN HE DANCES! Bobby pulls Rey's balls into the post, which Bobby defends by saying he's holding the tag rope in the process - fantastic! Konnan tags in, but the ref doesn't see it, so the heels cheat with choking. REY GETS THE TAG and Konnan runs wild with a back kick to the gut followed by the facebuster to Bobby and he throws Rey into Hennig for the bronco buster. Konnan face jams Hennig. Rey gets a rana leading to Windham coming out. Big Swoll attacks Hennig leading to a win for the faces. The Rednecks attack the Animals after the match.
The Cat is facing Scott Norton for whatever reason. Nope, it's Horace, and both he and Cat are in equally generic black singlets. Horace's has NWO in white on the back, while Cat's has CAT in red text. THESE TWO SUCK. And they have no chemistry. Onoo's with Cat in a bright yellow suit. Tony describes this as brutal - well, he's not wrong. Cat wins with the Feliner and a generic theme song. His dance moves are fantastic. A Piper-Flair Presidency video airs, with Piper burying Flair's finances. Piper looks so old body-wise in this video. Both Piper and Benoit have armbands for Owen here. Flair's out first with Asya and Arn, and some pyro. Flair is President and Piper is the Commissioner. Piper has no shirt on, and is just coming out with the kilt. Piper and Flair chop and punch away. Flair's in red trunks and blue kneepads. Piper grabs the balls for some offense. Piper continues the attack, but Flair goes to the ropes and hits a mule kick low blow in the corner. Yet another low blow followed by a moon spot off the sunset flip for 2. So we get Kat's boobs censored, but not Flair's bare ass. PIPER PUNCHES ARN ON THE FLOOR and he actually bumps for it. Over the top sunset flip from Piper gets 2. Flair pulls out taped up knucks and hits him with it, but Flair's too tired to cover. It only gets 2. Figure four with help from Arn. BUFF COMES OUT AND PUNCHES ARN. Second bump of the night for Arn. Buff comes in and we don't get a winner - wasn't Buff trying to get Piper to win!? Piper rightfully attacks this moron. ARN GETS THE SPINEBUSTER and a huge pop. So to recap - Buff wants to help Piper to win, so he prevents the win and ensures a loss. ARN GETS THE SPINEBUSTER, and then all the old guys beat up Buff. Because why not. The match wasn't very good, but Arn was a highlight and the whole storyline here is just awful. Piper kicks Buff's ass after the match with a belt for good measure.
We get a full Rick Steiner-Sting recap. They apparently had a taped fist Caged Heat/ABSOLUTELY NOT A HELL IN A CELL match. Tank was the ref and attacked Sting for whatever reason. This is a falls count anywhere, no DQ match. Steiner is the TV Champion, and this feud is so unimportant it isn't even on the line here - so boy does Sting look like a megastar at this point. Sting's in really good shape here. A fan holds up a STINGER RULES sign with a hand-drawn bat that looks more like a giant dildo. Sting and Rick attack with basic stuff leading to a Sting inverted atomic drop. They do next to nothing with the crowd brawling. Tony cites Rick ditching the headgear as a sign of his evil side - it's a bit goofy, but hey, it's visually-valid and is a little touch that doesn't really hurt things. Steiner gets a back mount and some punches. Rick locks on a chinlock. Sting gets the edge by getting the knees up on a camel clutch butt drop. He hits a pump splash and nails a second one to set up the giant superfly dive. It's a thing of beauty and gets 2. His splash was always underrated. Rick low blows him. Sting counters a surfboard with some kicks. TWO STINGER SPLASHES set up the Deathlock, but Rick gets the ropes. They walk backstage, but stop for a second to do SOMETHING - a suplex on the ramp to Rick. They invade THE INTERNET LOCATION and knock out lights so no one can see anything. Sting gets attacked by Tank, Scott, and SOME DOGS before Doug Dillinger and his crew run in all Keystone Cops style. Crowd chants bullshit for that. Steiner's out in a ridiculously gigantic shirt with Rick and the ref gives Rick the win due to 1, 2, 3 DOGS being used.
A Triad video airs with them throwing Raven in a dumpster. Kanyon's got an awesome tie-dye skull shirt on. Saturn and Benoit won the tag titles, but Kanyon attacks Saturn. Bischoff is just an announcer here, which I never remember. DDP has a shitty remix of his Smells Like Teen Spirit knockoff. LOL @ Benoit and Saturn coming out to Dean's theme and getting a Brian Knobs graphic. There's some goofy bullshit going on with the tag titles over just the past week within the timeline of this show. Tenay says TRIPLE B BAM BAM BIGELOW split up the Horsemen. Benoit and Kanyon exchange some good matwork before the faces double clothesline the heels to the floor. Tony puts over Saturn as a badass - and he looks it. Springboard legdrop from Saturn - I marked out so hard for Saturn in ECW and WCW. I thought he would've been just perfect as an IC Title-level guy in WWE - gave it to my CAW of him in WM 2000 and remade him in No Mercy since his moveset there was too toned down. STEREO OVERHEAD BELLY TO BELLYS BY THE FACES! Tony talks about how great it is for both himself as a fan and for everyone in WCW that Benoit's finally got a title. Kanyon gets a second-rope fameasser for 2. DDP lets out a loud OH SHIT before a Benoit German suplex. Kanyon and Benoit go at it and they're both down trying to get a tag. Saturn t-bone suplexes DDP and gets a frog splash for 2. Kanyon hits an electric chair drop that DDP gets 2 off of. Kanyon hits a Russian legsweep to set up a ridiculous DDP elbow drop for 2. Kanyon gets a sorta-triangle choke to hold Saturn in place for a seated double sledge from DDP. DDP stomps away on Saturn, and he is by far the worst worker in this. Kanyon hits the powerbomb-setup X factor for 2, once again covered by DDP. Kanyon is shining brightly here, while DDP is just coming off like the guy trying to get the credit. After more crap, Benoit gets the rolling Germans before a dragon suplex gets 2.9. DDP gets a cutter on Saturn off the top, after Benoit hits the headbutt. Dean comes out to even the odds, but it leads to BBB coming in for a Greetings From Jersey cutter and a 3. After several billion years, it's over! This was pretty good, but went too long. Kanyon attacks the ref.
The Savage-Nash video starts off with about 15 minutes left in the show time, so this should be a classic. This video is basically the same as the one before, so I don't know why we need to see it again. Madusa, Mona, and Gorgeous George are out. Madusa doesn't even resemble herself at any point in time. IT'S MADNESS TIME! IT'S MACHO TIME! Not the best night for Buffer. Bobby says ALL ANYONE WANTS TO KNOW ABOUT is how Nash is, and then Tony says WHO WAS DRIVING THE HUMVEE!? Nash gets a shitty pyro display. Nash letting the grey grow into his beard was a bad move - he looks so old. Buffer talking about his "FEEL NO PAIN COURAGE" attitude is ridiculous. They do basic shit, Nash hits the sideslam, sells the knee and eats a clothesline over the top. Madusa hits a BACK LEG FRONT KICK to Nash's injured ribs. Madusa kicks them again. Savage is choking him on the ground in the corner with his boot. THIS SUCKS! Mona hits a missile dropkick to the ribs to set up Savage's elbow for 2. Boy does it look bad with him just falling down and dropping all of his weight on the chest. Savage punches away, but it fires Nash up. Snake eyes time and he gets a big boot, but nearly falls. Nash snaps the strap, but gets attacked by the girls. George and Madusa bump for him, while Mona eats a Snake Eyes off a crossbody. SOMEONE IS IN THE RING says Tony, and he just happens to look like Sid Vicious! Sid's in jeans and a vest and powerbombs him down. Tenay says HE'S PSYCHOTIC. This sucked and the show as a whole was largely terrible.

Minoru Suzuki vs. Brock Lesnar in FPR and NJPW G1 Climax Finals - AJ Styles vs. Tanahashi in Fire Pro Returns and WWE 2K14
After the G1 Climax tourney, there were so many things I wanted to do and did. I made Honma, Bad Luck Fale, and revamped Minoru Suzuki. The last one took quite a bit of effort since his present-day moveset and appearance vary so wildly compared to the in-game version. I kept his face and head and just turned his hair grey to match the shaved look from afar, and added a ponytail look on top in dark black for contrast. The end result is pretty much perfect.
Since it would be a bit of a tease to not include the matches. Here's the first one that wound up being short, but really violent. The second is much longer, but not quite what I wanted, and well-worth redoing down the line.
Now, onto the original point of this post - AJ Styles vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi. Their match was fantastic and I loved how AJ had all-new gear for the event. It was tough to replicate so quickly, but I think I came fairly close given that it was done on the same day.
With WWE 2K14, I customized the movesets and figured I would get an even better match - but it didn't quite work out. One thing I was counting on was it being a counter-heavy match. While I did some countering throughout, the CPU never countered things I was hoping would be countered. I went for the springboard 450 hoping for a quick counter into a running strike or grapple, but it didn't happen. The first 450 also didn't lead to one, and when I finally was done, I was hoping for a Tanahashi special so the frog splash could either get a win or be countered if I didn't have an escape saved up. It's a fast match, but not quite what it could have been.

WWE 2K14 - Dean Ambrose vs. Brock Lesnar - Extreme Rules 2 Pack
I originally only planned on having one match between them since someone on the F4W board brought up how fun it would be. My mind immediately raced into things I could do in 2K14, so I had the match - but didn't like the finish. I got my desired finish with the first match, and decided to keep the second match since it had a finish that worked out well. I wanted Ambrose to win, but that didn't happen, so I just re-did the match and had some slightly crazier spots at points. They're each excellent matches and I'm proud of both of them.
Here's Match 1 -
Match 2 - the originally-planned first match that went awry, but makes for a fine story anyway.
Here's Match 1 -
Match 2 - the originally-planned first match that went awry, but makes for a fine story anyway.
WWE Raw 8-18-14
The opening grindhouse video is fantastic - and basically takes the PPV intro and put PPV clips on it. Bryan's theme hit setting up Steph with her STEPH STEPH STEPH shirt. She announced that tonight we'd see the new belt. She said Cena would need time to heal. That match definitely shaved a lot of time off of Cena's career - Austin was never the same after his Benoit match with the 20 billion Germans. There's a new logo on the mic and new white WWE bug on the lower-right. This white logo graphic looks so much better than the red and white one. She brought out Nikki. Nikki started her promo with a bad mic, which added to the comedy. God, they're trying to recreate the Owen-Bret dynamic here but NONE OF THE BELLAS ARE ANY GOOD. And if the angle is that Nikki is jealous over Brie "beating her to the alter", then the whole Total Divas reveal of HER BEING MARRIED A DECADE AGO means what exactly? Brie came out and the mic refused to work. Thank God this mic hates this promo work. Nikki slapped her, probably for the homemade BRIE MODE dress, and Brie cried. This was ungodly bad. Raw has new graphics as well, and there's a new theme playing too.
Wyatt B team came out to their theme - it's growing on me. Show and Henry, in a new white and black singlet, came out. THE GERMAN ANNOUNCERS were shown - 2 of them anyway. Show hit the corner chop to Harper. Go BIG PAIN! Heels get chucked to the floor for a break. They come back and Harper slugs it out with Show and DROPKICKS HIM TO THE FLOOR! USA just went black - did Show have a nip slip? Rowan takes Show down with a clothesline and then SLAMS HIM! Show counters a second attempt WITH A DDT! This is Show's best match since the Sheamus series - these guys are really delivering the goods. Great nearfall off the WSS with Harper kicking Rowan onto him for a 2.9! Show Koed Harper, then hit it onto Rowan into the Slam for the win! WOW - no 50/50 booking, and an awesome match to boot! Show Pain 4 Tag Champs! RYBAXEL TEAMS WITH ORTON, WHY!? Lumberjack match recap is next.
A new Did You Know graphic informed everyone that Summerslam was the most socially-active show on TV. Flair talked with Dolph, who has a new-logo IC title with very shiny gold. Dolph called Miz an a-hole, getting a chain of woos. Seth cut a promo but Dean DUMPED ICE WATER ON HIM and said it was for charity. Oh that was so great. They came back, replayed it, and Seth was all pissy with Kane and HHH. HHH made a rematch - giving us the second one from Summerslam, and HHH said THE FANS can make the match!
Nattie has new heart boob-window gear, with tiny shorts too. Paige's hot red gear rules. They exchanged matwork for a bit before Paige lustfully straddled Nattie resulting in a huge pop. AJ skipped around ringside and led to a distraction schoolgirl finish. Seriously. Nattie, WHO JUST BEAT THE CHAMPION, just left. AJ dedicated HER LIFE to Paige! Seth-Dean choices are No Holds Barred, Falls Count Anywhere, or No Disqualification! It's like getting a burger for a $1, 100 pennies, or 10 dimes.Title unveiling is next.
HHH and Steph are out with the belt covered up in velvet. The new belt lacks CHAMPION as shown in the pic, but the bright red bar looks odd. It's a more symmetrical design though. Brock and Heyman came out to do a big cornball photo op gimmick. Brock is so funny when he wants to be. Heyman said that Cena's not here - but would be if Brock hadn't mangled him. Brock's just so goshdarned happy at the thought of mangling human beings. Heyman's promo on Cena was just amazing. He babyfaced Cena to everyone who hates his guts and basically told you you're a fool to not like him because he's a tough motherfucker. Heyman says it's not about street cred - because IF YOU FACE BROCK, YOU DIE! He killed the streak, he killed Taker's career (so he's officially retired now), and Cena's out too. OH MY FUCKING GOD, they dared follow an all-time great promo from Heyman with the Bella drama.
Dolph's out for the rematch with Miz. This belt looks so fantastic slightly revamped. Miz and his amazing outfit came out. Some idiot held up a LANA WAS BORN IN AMERICA sign. They do some basic stuff before Dolph "tweaks the knee" and Miz dropkicks. Dolph gets 2 off an O'Connor roll before the break. They come back for a 2 off the big DDT. Miz got the figure four and JBL name-dropped Flair. Dolph's knee goes out on the floor and he can't get in before 10. Miz attacked, but ate a Zig Zag - so this feud MUST continue. Renee met with Jack and showed him losing. Jack says when times are tough, PEOPLE HELP AND HE'LL PICK HIMSELF UP CUZ THAT'S WE THE PEOPLE!
Swagger's out to face Cesaro, who actually gets an entrance. They had a nothing match beyond an ankle lock in the ropes and an eye poke leading to the Neutralizer for the win. CESARO WINS! CESARO WINS! And Cole IMMEDIATELY makes excuses for Swagger! Bo came out to inspire Jack by telling him how many hundreds of millions he disappointed at Summerslam. And now he lost again! So we get Swagger-Bo on Main Event or SD. Swagger's new singlet is really awesome - mainly because it's easy to make in FPR. Jericho and his goofy goatee talked to Renee. Random 6 man tag is next.
Heels are out first followed by the faces. Orton was sent outside by Sheamus and rested for a break. They came back and Sheamus ate a back suplex on the barricade, with a rough landing on the floor. Big chant for the BIG GUY. FEED ME MORE! RYBACK RULES! They're in Vegas, so it makes sense, and you know what? PUSH HIM TONIGHT! THE BIG GUY CAME IN FOR A BIG SUPLEX! Orton as Ryback's cheerleader on the apron is so fantastic. Orton comes in for the DDT, but it gets countered into White Noise. Axel and Roman are in...how uneven! Diving lariat to Axel! Corner lariat, throat thrust, set up the basement dropkick, but Orton hit the 3.0 before he could do the spear or Superman punch. RVD tagged in for a crossbody for 2. Brogue to Ryback set up an RKO to Sheamus and a spear to Orton from Reigns. RVD kicks Axel, hits the splash, and wins! Well, the guy I expected to lose did, and the guy who I thought would win didn't - good for RVD getting some wins again!
Orton met with Flair, and was warned to not mess with him or he'd find out WHY HE WAS CALLED THE LEGEND KILLER! Bray said stuff and THE USOS CAME OUT WITH SHINY BELTS. THIS JUST IN, POWERSAUCE IS AMAZING! And SD is #1 on Fridays, Maggle! Despite the TAG CHAMPS BEING IN THE RING, we get a Bella recap. Dust Bros face the Usos here. Usos were fantastic in there moving so quickly with Goldust, while Stardust did his best to keep up. JBL and Cole were in rare form tonight - it was like JBL's original commentary run just badgering at each other. Stardust won with a sunset flip. This was a good match technically, but greatly harmed by the commentary. According to JBL, THE DUST BRUSTERS won.
RVD faces Orton on SD, so RVD's new streak ends. Rusev came out and nodded to the Rusev photo. HENRY CAME OUT TO CHALLENGE HIM! WORLD'S STRONGEST 'MERICAN! He cut a fantastic promo and made himself a big deal in just a few minutes. HENRY GOT THE SLAM AND DID A JIG! THEN HE SPLASHED HIM! THIS IS GOING TO RULE! I'm so doing this match in 2K14 later. They hyped up the Shield's road to Summerslam doc on the Network. YAY, AMBROSE GETS A MINI-DOC! Cena returns next week. Main event time!
Dean's hoodie is excellent. They brawled outside quickly and Seth kicked him to set up a buckle bomb on the set, but Dean countered into a snap suplex. Dean got weapons! Chair-assisted scoop slam from Dean! Ambrose hit a diving elbow drop/chairshot for 2. Dean uses the chair to prop it in the corner, but Seth counters and Dean's head smacks it for 2. Dean ate a nasty cane shot to the gut during the break. They did a quick exchange where Seth hit a front kick to the face to counter a cane shot, followed by a superkick and an enzuiguri for 2. The front kick led to a fantastic facial expression from Dean as he fell to the mat. They countered finishers and met in the middle for a crossbody spot. THEY'RE BRAWLING ON THEIR KNEES NOW! I love this match! Dean slingshots Seth into the buckle despite eating cane shots! I love Dean making chairs his thing and chucking a billion into the ring for these matches. They teased a superplex onto them, but delivered a SUNSET RUNNING LIGERBOMB FOR 2! Mr. Kane and what's left of his hair came down. Seth got a table. GOD FUCKING DAMMIT JBL STOP CALLING THESE VILE WEAPONS TOYS! These guys were given the main event ball here and they're running with it. The crowd is crazy-hot for this. SUPERPLEX THROUGH THE TABLE FROM DEAN! Dean took out Kane and Seth! REBOUND LARIAT! DIRTY DEEDS, but KANE COMES IN! Seth escaped him by using the tables again to run and attack Seth! Dean went for Dirty Deeds on the announce table, but Kane grabbed him and chokeslammed him on it! Curb stomp on the table! Kane unleashed a BLOCK OF CINDER BLOCKS, which is a bit silly, but it led to a curb stomp through them and an awesome-looking deal and a KO finish. Dean should've brought his Monster Cinder Block Repellent. Seth won battles - can't wait to see Dean return to win the war.

Blog Upgrade Plans
This blog has done shockingly well - with my G1 Climax writeup getting around the same readership as a Raw recap and the TNA/Spike issues piece getting about SIX TIMES the normal traffic. It feels like things are starting to move forward - and I can see the Paypal button works now. So I want to do more with the blog and I've got some ideas. The first, and easiest to implement is going to be posting my favorite game matches to it - but that's not all. I'm going to make a post explaining the origins of the match, the goals of it, and I got what I wanted out of that match. It's something I tend to do a bit in video descriptions anyway, and this will just expand upon that idea. I'll start later today with some Ambrose-Brock matches, and then go backwards with some AJ-Tanahashi stuff in both FPR and WWE 2K14.

WWE SummerSlam 2014
Kickoff's just started. Yay, the announcers get to not drink more MTN Dew Kickstart! Booker T is plugging the Katana sushi joint in LA. Riley says he can't wait to see the celebs, while Flair says that RONDA ROUSEY is here! RONDA ROUSEY! WOO! RONDA ROUSEY! Flair was almost Foley-with-Melina level here. Brie-Steph recap. They kept bitch in this one. "I'M GOING TO. TEAR! YOUR! HEART! OUT!" remains hilarious. We get the SHUCKY DUCKY QUACK QUACK moment, complete with plugging Ronda Rousey being backstage. A Mark Yeaton 2015 WWE HOF sign was shown on the hard camera side. They did some stuff before an ad break, where they plugged the Network and how amazing a deal everyone with the Network already knows it is! RVD hits a moonsault off the apron, but leaps into a crossbody only to get hit by an uppercut for 2. RVD HIT THE FIVE STAR AND WON!? Wow. RVD should have won last year at Summerslam, didn't, but he won this year. Yargh. A fan won the Totino's contest, got to do some training, and take part in the pre-show panel for 30 seconds. He's The Mama's Boy because he lives with his mother. This would be like TNA bragging that their fans are 40 year old virgins. Brock ad aired - "I'm a bad son of a bitch!". haha - the vomit line closed the pre-show. Hogan's out to start the show as the host or something. The Raw set for of all shows SUMMERSLAM is disappointing. Hogan plugged the Network and a 9.99 chant broke out, video quality also nosedived for only $9.99! Getting a ton of quick little rewinds here - the opening video is taking forever. They exchange hiptoss counters before Miz takes Dolph down with a big boot. Dolph got a superkick for 2! Dolph hits a baseball slide after Miz try to bail, but eats a figure 4. Dolph gets a fameasser, but eats a Finale for 2 after a counter by jamming Dolph's knee into the mat! Zig Zag - DOLPH WINS! NOOO! POOR MIZ!
God, this Steph-Brie recap is dreadful with Cole trying to talk through it. And Steph's acting. And Brie's acting. Brie acted more in a bit with Tom Phillips. She's in LA - GO TO AN ACTING CLASS! Paige skipped down in dark red gear looking so very hot. AJ pulled Paige's extensions out, just like Eva on SD. Wow - I just got some weird fast forward thing during the apron spot. Electric chair drop to AJ on the barricade. AJ gets the Black Widow, but it's countered into the Ram-Paige cradle DDT.
NEW FLAG MATCH STIPS! If Rusev wins...he gets his usual flag bit over the ring! Lana referenced happy endings in her promo. Swagger got a big military intro. Swagger HAS to be winning this. They brawl before the match to do damage to Rusev's ankle before the match. CAN RUSEV, THE VALIANT BABYFACE, OVERCOME THE ODDS!? Swagger's got bad ribs still, so Rusev's got a reverse bearhug on. Rusev blocks a Swagger bomb, but eats a second one. I love the commentators pointing out how stupid Swagger is for not only attacking with his injured body part, but not hitting Rusev's injured ankle. Shortarm round kick to the stomach by Rusev! Rusev went for the Accolade, BUT HE CAN'T SUPPORT HIS WEIGHT! Rusev modified it into a basic rear chinlock variant. Swagger turns it into the ankle lock! Rusev gets a kick and ultimate splash leading to a mid-ring Accolade! Rusev...gets the win via passout. Ugh. Lana's bragging made this worthwhile. Lana looks so much more tan with the white suit AND THEY ATTACKED ZEB! This led to a great visual with the heels standing over the fallen faces with their flag and anthem. Rusev-Swagger was my favorite match so far.
Ambrose-Rollins is up next. Seth and his generic theme started this. Ambrose's new anarchy hoodie is fantastic! Dean's on the attack to start, but Seth gets ahead with a lariat. Seth gets the buckle flatliner. Wyatts are out as lumberjacks, which just seems odd given their gimmick. Seth gets a cobra clutch. Avalanche suplex off the apron from Ambrose to Seth and onto the whole pile by the announce table! Seth gets tossed into the crowd, but the heels won't let him attack, so he bypasses them by running the announce tables to attack him! Mr. Kane came out to insult the lumberjacks for allowing the guys to fight into the crowd - all the way up, in fact. Sandow dressing up as an actual lumberjack is amusing. Seth attacks Sin Cara - TAKE THAT AAA! Seth tries to escape, but as Cole says THERE'S THE FRONT LINE!? WHERE'S THE MAIN EVENT MAFIA!? Ambrose dives onto a pile of dudes. Rebound lariat gets a 360 sell from Seth! Dean hits the curb stomp, but Kane comes in to be verbally abused by Goldust before EVERYONE COMES IN AND DOES STUFF! This isn't a DQ. Instead, Seth hits a FLYING CASE SHOTRIGHT OUT OF NO MERCY ON THE N64!
Jericho-Bray gets a blah recap. I hope Ronda one day gets this phone light intro. Bray's got pea-green pants on. JERICHO'S GOT A NEW JACKET! It's got lines on it now and looks fantastic - almost on par with Devitt's. Why choose this match of all matches to plug Slam City? AND CAN THEY PLEASE WRITE NEW AD COPY FOR THAT?! Jericho got a triangle shoulderblock - nice switch-up there. They do a lot of not much before a chinlock. Jericho's got a nasty bruise on his thigh from something. Bray gets put in the Walls, revealing a big gut. He's put some weight back on. Bray gets the ropes and hits an apron DDT for 2. Bray goes up, gets stopped and eats a super rana for 2! This is a technically-fine match, just not exciting. Bray did the spider walk as a counter to the lionsault - why not just moonsault him still? Codebreaker hits, but Bray's by the ropes and gets his foot underneath, and a 2 count anyway. They didn't even bring up the Codebreaker ending the match last month. Ugh. So easy and still not done. Samoan spike sets up Abigail on the barricade. Mid-ring Abigail gets the win. Bray said he was dead during the spider walk, and the crowd was dead during and after this. Bray cuts a promo on Jericho finally learning what it means to follow the buzzards, and sang the "whole world" song. Bray's got a nice singing career when his wrestling career is over.
This ominous promo led to, of course, a Taki's ad. Brie-Steph is up next, leading to the 900th Brie-Steph recap tonight. I had time to get trash together and make a sandwich and this video is STILL GOING ON! This match has honestly gotten more hype than the main event tonight. King and JBL fawned over Steph. Their Twitter graphic is really hard to read. They did some basic stuff before my stream went all wonky. VQ died and froze. "Who's my bitch!" Steph rules. Steph got the lead for a long-ass time before Brie fought back with a shitty Thesz press. Brie doing Bryan's moves proves that it's not what you do, but how you do it. They put over that Bryan paid $10 to watch this on the Network. No Nikki or HHH out there. Brie's punches are about as bad as her kicks. Maybe worse. Brie went for the Yes Lock like a child playing wrestler. HHH pulled the ref out. Cole's outraged that HHH is out there despite BEING ADVERTISED FOR IT! HHH sells for Brie. Nikki and Brie trapped Steph mid-ring, so Nikki pulled Steph aside to attack Brie! Pedigree wins and the heels kneel over her. HHH is struggling to move in this squatted position. JBL put over VINCE MCMAHON WATCHING ON THE WWE NETWORK!
Mama's Boy video aired. The peak was Hurricane's theme and Cole's jacket. I hope Hurricane trends worldwide. Orton's out in new grey with silver and black gear - looks awesome. Black and blue does look better than black and olive green for Roman. They're not doing too much - but Roman's punches alone rule. Garvin stomp does too. Crowd's not too hot here - given that they've put Roman in the Raw opener due to reactions, I'm surprised they didn't do that here. Superplex to Roman gets 2. I hope we at least get Orton countering the spear with a DDT ala 2K14. It'd get a pop and a big nearfall too. LONG chinlock. REIGNS FINALLY DOES SOMETHING - a corner clothesline. Basement dropkick. Roman gets posted leading to MORE ORTON OFFENSE. This doesn't bode well for match excitement. Roman eats an Angle slam on the announce table that partially cracks it a bit. Super Samoan Drop from Roman gets 2. Well, now I know a move to give Roman in No Mercy. Superman Punch! Reigns went for the spear, but it was countered into a powerslam! Well, it wasn't a DDT, but still great. Draping DDT! Reigns went for the flying lariat, but Orton hit a mid-move RKO FOR 2! Orton teased a punt , but he got tripped and ate a spear for the win! This got really great during the last 5+ minutes.
They plugged Summerslam going to NY/NJ - new Summerslam logo looks like shit. WWE Network plug. Brock's out. Boy is Brock's ever-changing physique fascinating. He's back to WM 29 levels here. This Cena shirt icon looks so terribly goofy. A fan's Meep Moop sign was the highlight of the intros. They started off basically playing off the first one, only with Cena charging in and getting some strikes before Brock waylays him with hammer punches and body blows before a FLASH F5 FOR 2! HOLY MEEP MOOP at that opening segment! Brock hits a German - suplex, not an announcer. Second one. Cena is going to literally kill himself for the company, then ask them to clone him to do it all over again. Grounded knee to the ribs of Cena - right out of FPR. Can't wait to have this match in FPR later - since it's got MMA moves and positioning within a pro wrestling framework, it'll be super-easy to do. ONE CHILD is chanting "let's go Cena". Cena got some body blows, but ate a big knee. This kid won't shut up. I hope Brock finds that kid and yells at him. Another knee to the gut sets up a third and fourth German. FIFTH. SIXTH! I love Brock making GERMAN SUPLEXING A GROUNDED CENA look like it's nothing. The positioning is right out of FPR too. Brock is sweating an unhealthy amount here. SEVENTH GERMAN SUPLEX, made even better with Brock gently lifting him up. EIGHTH GERMAN SUPLEX! CENA GETS SOME ELBOWS, CLOTHESLINES AND AN AA FOR 2! Brock sat up like it was nothing and laughed! Brock's hopping around with his fist up to set up a double-leg and some punches! Love this! JBL referenced the Carwin fight, followed by Cole saying he was never the same after it. ROLLING GERMANS! So glad I gave Brock those in No Mercy. ANOTHER SET OF ROLLING GERMANS! Brock stands over him, BUT CENA GETS THE STF! Brock reverses and PUNCHES THE SHIT OUT OF HIM! Second F5 wins! Brock and Cena have absurdly good chemistry together. And Cena's career just got shortened by a decade. Love seeing Brock with both belts.

WWE SD 8-15-14
Ambrose-Cesaro starts things off. Cesaro's got a white towel with "Cesaro" on it. Ambrose gets a knee to the gut, while Cesaro fires off a shortarm lariat and goes for a fallaway slam into a suplex, but Dean escapes. Plancha leads to THE SHOULDER GETTING HURT and a big suplex on the floor from Cesaro. I love Cesaro's little jig before he punches Dean in the corner. SUICIDE DIVE FROM AMBROSE! JBL absolutely buried Diego by implying that he's way far beneath Seth, who joined the Authority. Tornado DDT from Dean gets 2. Cesaro ducks the rebound lariat and hits a lariat of his own for 2! A second tornado DDT gets countered into the VE Uppercut. Cesaro got 2 and hit a burning hammer for another 2 count. Ambrose gets the rebound lariat for 2! Cesaro goes behind, but eats Dirty Deeds for the win! This was short-ish, but really fun. Seth cuts a promo on Dean saying he was never Dean's brother and he'll see him Sunday. Henry faces Harper for whatever reason.
Miz and his new all-red suit, ascot, AND SCARF! Miz cut Roman off constantly, and he got punched out after mentioning starring in CHRISTMAS BOUNTY! Glorious punch from Roman there. Miz met with Mr. Kane, and asked that he BAN ROMAN REIGNS FROM MIZ TV! Kane said he wouldn't do that, but he'd give Miz more airtime against Roman Reigns tonight - ciao! Dolph faced Titus, beat him, and they brought up Heath could beat Dolph, but Titus couldn't. Okay match. Harper faced Henry in an okay match that just served as a segue into Henry/Show vs. Wyatt Family. Harper and Show are really fantastic in there. Harper looks big enough to be credible with Show, but he's fast enough to work well with him. KO Punch into the WSS for the win! Surprising finish there since there's nothing involving these teams on even the pre-show for the PPV.
AJ faced Eva Marie. JBL said WE RHYME ON MONDAY NIGHT after they talked about Paige's bit. AJ ripped out Eva's extensions and Paige came down for a brawl. Eva won via countout, so the brawl wasn't a DQ for some reason. Swagger beat Bo and the guys waved flags for a bit. Miz faces Roman and actually put him in the figure four. Reigns escaped, got a corner clothesline, hit the basement dropkick, and Miz tried to escape but Dolph came out. SUPERMAN PUNCH, spear, and a win.
