NWA Power 10-8-19 - Episode 1

I know it's stylized as POWERRR, but that just looks stupid. The show open is as good as could be expected, with some ROH and NWA footage thrown in and a video running through the top acts. The NWA Power Hour features Jim Cornette and Joe Galli.  Cornette goes over the history of studio wrestling in Atlanta over the last 60 years. David Prazak interviews Nick Aldias and Kamille and he talks about being the real world champion for almost a year. He says it can be hard to stay hungry, but the NWA has gone from being a punchline to a headline. He talks about the Wild Cards as tag champs, Storm as National Champion, and Allysin Kay as women's champion - making everything seem connect and important. He cuts a great promo on the title and Tim Storm.

The Dawsons face Sal Rinauro and Billy Buck. Hopefully he doesn't have a brother named Filly whose naming scheme is the same. The ring is miced way too loudly and the Dawsons kill these dudes quickly with a powerslam/bodyblock combo. They cut a good promo about the world getting to know the Dawsons soon. A wacky Lord Al impression leads to an ad for Austin Idol school with WACKY GRAPHICS. This is tremendous!

Eli Drake talks to a guy about the business being run by kids and the NWA has MEN. He said that in the NWA, you want to be a champion and he's coming for any champion in the NWA. He'll be facing Caleb Konley and they have a fun, stiff battle with lots of chops and Eli wins it with the Gravy Train. We see the buildup for tonight's Tim Storm vs. Nick Aldis title match. Josephus with short hair is unrecognizable and he demands Tim Storm.

He doesn't get Tim Storm, but he gets James Storm. Storm cuts a damn good promo and he is the exact kind of promo that works nicely in a studio setting. He tells Josephus that he doesn't see fire and he knows he's a joke. They brawl before the NWA Tag Champs come out. Latimer and Royce, Wild Card to face Danny White and Mims. Latimer hits a pop-up powerbomb before Royce lands a full nelson into a German for the win. Latimer says they're the goddamn tag champions of the world.

Eddie Kingston comes out to "not disrespect anyone", but does so for everyone and gets in a nice crack about Prazak being awkward. He demands that the King be allowed to speak and we get another brawl now with Homicide and Kingston brawling with Josephus and Storm brawling around the area too. The ITS STILL REAL TO ME DAMMIT guy gets an ad.

Storm fights Josephus around the building, superkicks him and then puts his finger in his mouth. Tim Storm's story about being a grandfather, teacher, and being the holder of the gold at an older age is told. Tim Storm comes out and cuts a teary-eyed promo about not losing as long as he does his best. Next week's show is hyped up with Allysin Kay in action.

Cornette talks about Storm having everything to lose here and Nick has an easier road as he's champion and just has to keep it. This is Storm's final shot at the gold and he gets worn down on the mat before Nick's gorgeous elbow lands hard. They fight on the floor and Aldis accidentally drops Kamille. Aldis counters a suplex into a small package to end it. They tease some issues between Kamille and Aldis by having him prevent her from asking how this all feels.
