I haven't done any wrestling writing since July with Summerslam, largely due to work just being so tiring. There are so few people on the sales floor and a work/life balance has been pretty tough - and it's not like the life part of things is overflowing. However, even things like just going to get groceries have been too much and I just go home and rest up to recover from the shift. Ditto Occoquan runs - I loved doing those and those have gone by the wayside too.
Writing has been minimal as a whole because there's no real time to play a game - let alone write about it. I've been able to do a few things, but way more things have been late and that's never been a thing that's happened. Luckily, I decided to finally take a two week break and that's done a lot of good. My knee has been bothering me for a month or so - to the point where I've been walking around the sales floor with a brace on it to help put less tress on it when I'm on my hands and knees grabbing laptops and I feel almost 100%.
I definitely need to get back in the swing of things when it comes to taking care of my eye as pain and pressure are back and can be a sign of glaucoma or at least pressure going up again. It's been way too long since I've had a retina specialist checkup or even just a "basic" exam - and the last one showed that my retina was kind of rough, but the specialist said it was healthy all things considered...but it's better to be safe than sorry with one eye. Couldn't get an exam done with this break, but I will be taking the first week of January off and I'll get my eye looked at then.
The last two years have been so crazy with the pandemic and to me, it's like Spud passed in December of 2019 and then BOOM A WHOLE DECADE OF SHIT happened in two years. Luckily, great people have come into my life thanks to Best Buy that make me glad to still work there. Marcus has been a rock and someone I can count on to help in any department when we're getting stretched thin and Kadie has been a gift that keeps on giving. A bright smile at work and a cheery disposition despite an insane world have helped me focus on the brighter side of things.
They've been a great reminder to me that you can't plan life out much - and so many of its best moments come from things you can't plan. I've made the mistake before of wanting that when really, just flying by the seat of your pants at times is so fun. It's led to every 2K trip being a riot - ditto wrestling shows. Going to New Japan in DC for Puro Monthly was a blast and maybe I'll hit up the DC Dynamite in a couple of weeks. That's gonna come down to money to Uber to and from and ticket prices as I doubt I'll get a press pass for it but we'll see.
