AEW Dynamite 12-27-23 - New Year's Smash - Gold League Finals Three-Way

 

We're starting things off hot with the triple threat to close out the gold league in the C2! Mox is out first and Jay White mocks him before Swerve closes out the intros before a fast start with a floor brawl. Swerve Stomp-style shotgun dropkick to a chair-seated Mox in the crowd. Mox gets clipped by Jay White after he chucks Swerve over the barricade. Swerve lands a pair of running forearms to the jaw of Mox before a squatty potty ad. More floor brawling and Jay prevents table usage with a chair to the back of Mox. 

Mox turns an RNC into a bulldog chock on White! JML Driver is avoided! ANOTHER CHAIR TO THE BACK OF MOX BY WHITE! White gets sent into his own corner-set chair! RUNNING DISCUS LARIAT BY SWERVE TO MOX! Mox avoids a swerve stomp thanks to White sending him down and Mox hits the Death Rider to win it and go to the finals! Bryan vs. Kingston is being set up so perfectly with Bryan as the killer asshole heel...with one eye. Kingston vs. Mox should make for a great final and capper to their years-long story in AEW.

Swerve cuts a killer promo about being one of the best in the business and proving it in the C2. Swerve vs. Lee is set up for World's End and Nana is mad they didn't clear that shit. Renee chats with Mariah May, who has a killer tron and theme. She'll debut not in 2023 - because she doesn't like the vibe, but she will debut in 2024 on the first Dynamite because it's going to be the year of Mariah! Riho attacks everyone and dives onto Toni and LUTHA! Top Flight and Andretti issue a challenge and OC and the gang accept. 

Miro and CJ hype video with Miro saying that wrestling has poisoned her and Miro vs. Andrade is set for the PPV. Tony brings out a boxing day celebration for the Don Callis Family. Don unveils paintings for everyone BUT SAMMY, who returns AND IS FUMING. He's got a painting, but it's got his baby in it and he doesn't abide! Hobbs is a tank who beat Jericho twice and no one would remember it. Sammy didn't get a single call from Callis!

Don tells him to choose the other family or the Don Callis Family. They beat him down before Jericho makes a save! They smash up the paintings and Sammy sends the glass flying! They hug and then Bill and Starks jump them! The lights go out and STING AND DARBY COME IN TO HELP! 

Danielson vs. Kingston is up and it's another Danielson masterclass to start. He kicks the leg after Kingston goes for a lock-up and wants to go after the good side he can see out of. They go back and forth in the corner before Danielson is a complete arrogant shit on the mat and mocks him during the Romero special stomps. Kingston counters the kneeling kicks with CHOPS! Kneeling cocky shit kicks lead to DANIELSON GETTING HIT WITH A BIG EXPLODER!

Danielson gets the LeBell Lock in! KINGSTON ESCAPES, but gets trapped in the corner and eats a massive corner basement dropkick! Eddie counters an avalanche back suplex with a bodyblock! The whole AEW G1 and Kingston putting up 2/3 of the triple crown on his own is so perfect - who better to hold the new triple crown than the prince of King's Road? Danielson's AEW run has been the best of his WWE run as a babyface and the best of him being a complete asshole heel in ROH - and now it can be weaved in and out of in a match itself! NORTHERN LIGHTS BOMB HITS FOR 2.9! 

BUSAIKU KNEE HITS AND DANIELSON STACKS HIM FOR 2.9! Hammer and anvil elbows hit hard for Danielson! Danielson leaves it to say HE'S GOING TO KICK HIS HEAD IN! Bryce asks if he can keep going and Kingston gets a bird flip! URIKEN. HALF AND HALF! ANOTHER URIKEN AND THE STACKED KAWADE POWERBOMB ENDS IT!

Mox comes out and says that everyone here loves Kingston - but he knows him better than he knows himself and he's already lost before the match. Kingston says that yeah, he hates himself more than anyone else BUT ON SATURDAY, THE KING OF THE BUMS WILL PUSH YOU. YOU SAID I AM NOT ALLOWED TO QUIT AND WE NEED GUYS LIKE YOU AROUND TO SHAPE THE YOUNGER GUYS. You'll get it all and I'M GONNA BUST YOU UP AND ENJOY IT!

Christian and Copeland are backstage for a bit and they just brawl. Statlander vs. Skye Blue is up despite the ROH Tag Title still being up. Stokely - MY COUSIN LEON TWISTED HIS ANKLE AT AUTOZONE AND HE'S BEEN OUT OF WORK FOR FIVE YEARS! Big delayed suplex by Kris after a big dropkick. Stokely - I GOT YOU A STARBUCKS GIFT CARD! WHO ELSE GAVE YOU FIVE DOLLARS!? Taz - BUT I DIGRESS! Chaos Theory out of the corner for Kris gets 2. Code Blue gets 2 and ANGER! Rana into a powerbomb stack from Stat for 2.5! Julia belt shots Kris and an AVALANCHE CODE BLUE HITS TERRIFYINGLY AND WINS! The heels go for a double-team and Willow saves! ABADON TRAPS THE HEELS ON THE RAMP!

Saraya, Ruby and Harley Cameron are backstage and Harley is now Ruby's assistant and holy hell are her tits out. Zero Hour has a TNT Title battle royal, Yuta vs. Hook for the FTW Title and a full card rundown shows this as a loaded lineup. Sting, Darby, Jericho and Sammy face the Family, Big Bill, and Starks on PPV! The ROH Tag Title match has a 60 minute time limit here at 9:59PM EST - LOL.The goons are out first and then MJF is out before Joe is shown with a bad knee backstage. 

Max goes for the mask but eats a hotshot on the rope. A goon - presumably a hired goon, hits MJF with a pipe on the bad shoulder. Heatseeker and some rope lead to new champs! The Devil shows up with a graphic showing that it's A PLEASURE DOING BUSINESS WITH YOU and he attacks him with a chair and hits a muscle buster!

AEW Dynamite 12-20-23

 

Swerve's out to massive SWERVE chants before facing RUSH - this should be pretty much all-action. Quick matwork before they go to the leg and we get a tranquillo pose. Snap German to RUSH leads to discus elbows taking each other down. Discus punch and a straightjacket piledriver by RUSH gets 2.5! Back and forth apron chops and each guy just wants more! RUSH misses a dive and eats a 450 from Swerve for 1! Gator roll brainbuster hits for 2.5! House Call and the Swerve Stomp win it!

Blue League hype with Kevin Kelly hyping up how much Kingston risked here - putting up 2 of the 3 belts in the triple crown. Jericho cuts a promo about Kenny's illness and says they don't know what's up for World's End - well I'd do Jericho and Sammy as a team for a feelgood reunion. Mark vs. Jay Lethal is up! Chops back and forth in the corner. Good lord is Mark ever a great babyface - he does damage on the floor with a fan's hat on! Froggy bow meets the knees and LETHAL HITS A JAY DRILLER FOR 2.9! CUTHROAT BURNING HAMMER AND THE JAY DRILLER GIVE MARK A WIN!

Mark and Lethal shake after the match. Video package for MJF being inducted into the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame - in his '20s! Joe comes out and man is his theme easy to bop your head to and Joe says that everyone's getting hurt - and last week, MJF was down lying down on the floor but we never saw the attack. They hype up the PPV being in a bit over a week and it really doesn't feel like it. MJF points out that last week, the goons didn't touch Joe. Goons jump them and the scree goes black again and the Devil wants the ROH Tag Titles and Joe accepts for next week.

Roppongi Vice and the Best Friends are backstage and we get Internatial Title fun. Toni calls Taz the Human Duplex Machine! Saraya vs. Riho is up for a title shot! Toni - "Is she here to unclog pipes? She could be handy for your duplex!" Riho takes out Saraya and wins to get the title match at Worlds End. Toni uses opera glasses to see Riho and they brawl before Mariah May KOs Riho with the belt! 

Tony reads a Christian Cage statement that threatens Tony and it hypes him up as this God-like being who is taking his prodigy on vacation. He will address Copeland on Collision upon his return. Cage hype before we get another argument from Joe and MJF backstage. MJF walks around and a devil's mask is outside the Mogul Embassy's locker room! MJF does the beginning of the Swerve song and MJF talks about their time on the indies together doing all these car rides and now he's proud of him - BUT he isn't ducking him. "There's levels to this shit - and you're not on my level!"  Swerve thanks him for being a great driver and Swerve brings up the Regal e-mail and Swerve got the gig then - because MJF wanted a tryout then, and he got a contract and be careful how you talk to him because the last guy who talked to him like this was hung out of the ring in front of 13,000 people. MJF says that it makes sense to him to have Swerve's goons attack so he has a path to the title. "I'll be the big bad wolf and blow your house down and then break both your arms so you can always swerve while you drive!"

Strong vs. Komander is up and Komander throws him over with a rana. Komando hits a crazy dive to the floor on Strong and the goons! End of Heartach lands and Strong wins - way too much of this was during the break. Roddy yells out for Joe that Max is the devil! Rosa's return from Collision is shown and Rosa's first match back is on Saturday. Brian Cage vs. Keith Lee is prepped up too! WBD synergy with Evil Uno and other wacky AEW characters appearing at an early screening of the new Aquaman IN FULL GEAR!

JR returns to a nice pop and we get Jay White vs. Mox in the main event with a quick choke by Mox that White escapes and then chokes him on the apron during a PIP break. Muta lock by White leads to a floor brawl with a fan holding a SPOILER: MOX IS GOING TO BLEED sign. Mox gets in at 2.9 and a Bladerunner leads to a Paradigm Shift for 2! Bladerunner attempt is met with a shortarm lariat by Mox and a curb stomp! Death Rider is escaped into a Bladerunner for the win! Swerve vs. Mox vs. White in a 3-way next week!

Worlds End is hyped up and then WE GET SWERVE COMING OUT! Jay doing the dance and...yeah he's very white. 

 

AEW Dynamite 12-6-23 - Cage vs. Copeland for the TNT Title

 It's a big show from the Bell Centre with Cage vs. Cope and gold league action alongside Toni Storm vs. Skye Blue while MJF and Joe face the Devil's goons. MOX VS. RUSH IS THE OPENER HOLY SHIT! Forearms and hard chops begin things off before a belly to belly and basement missile dropkick to the neck. They walk and brawl in the crowd and Mox gets hit with a beer can. Snap powerslam on Mox gets 2. Mox hits a superplex and does a weird floating cover and always moves to get into position for the Danielson stomps that Rush avoids before tossing Mox into the barricade!

Snap paradigm shift thing hits quickly. Big superplex to Mox gets 2! Mox suicide dive to the floor hits! They come in at 9.5 to beat the count! They're back to mid-ring forearms! Bull's horns meet a king kong lariat and a death rider gets 2.9! RNC is locked in and it's over - this ruled! Rush gets up and realizes he's lost when Mox's theme is playing. 

White vs. Lethal is set up with their ROH past. Hangman is with Renee and talks about Swerve and Swerve beating him on PPV and he has lost. But at Full Gear, he took something from him that he'll never get back and they're bound forever and it's not over. He knows what Swerve wants in life and he'll ensure he never gets it before MJF yammers to him. MJF and Hangman talk about Hangman beating MJF in the DoN battle royal and they talk about title reign lengths and it's why it's so great to have long title reigns because a company with a history of under five years HAS a year+ reign to talk about. Joe tells them to shut the fuck up and stop arguing because MJF is his responsibility.

Mark Briscoe's out to face Swerve, who gets a fan doing the Nana dance. Great matwork to start off. Apron warfare leads to a gamenguri by Mark! Lots of action during the break and we come back to a Jay driller attempt that is met with the house call kick! Swerve 450 meets the knees and a cradle for 2. FROGGY BOW MEETS THE KNEES AND A CRUCIFIX GETS 2.5! APRON DVD AND THE SWERVE STOMP ENDS IT. This ruled!

Mariah May talks to Renee and she'll have her debut soon but tonight it's all about Timeless Toni! Joe's out and the goons come out with the lights down. The Devil appears on-screen and MJF is down and out! Mox chats and then Swerve interrupts - they'll face off next week at Winter is Coming. Ben Mankowitz puts over TONI STORM! Giant intro leads to Skye in distracting gear and Toni teams with LUTHA for a chicken fight head smash!

ASSALANCHE BY SKYE and then a face wash! Toni counters a piledriver attempt with a jacknife and wins! RIHO RETURNS! She sends Toni packing! Jay White vs. Lethal is up next and we get a big Cage vs. Copeland history package. Christian talks about Adam getting all the breaks and he was thrown down and had to build himself up. Jay vs. Jay is up with White working on the knee a ton. Lethal lands a suicide dive and hits a torture rack drop! HAIL TO THE KING ELBOW GETS 2! Back and forth cradles get the win for White! 

Odd getup for Justin Roberts tonight. Copeland vs. Cage is up and we get an epic intro across the board - both for intros for the wrestlers and the match itself with darkened lighting. Quick sleeper attempt leads to Cage escaping and wanting a low blow that gets his hand smashed up. Super Russian legsweep by Cope! MASSIVE TRIANGLE LARIAT BY COPE TO THE FLOOR! Cage frog splash gets 2. Cage spears meets the impaler and it gets 2! RUNNING LIGER BOMB BY COPE! Crossface by Cope and it finally looks good with him moving his legs inward a bit.

Cage leapfrogs the spear and gets the killswitch for 2! Christian ballshots the ref! Cage wants a beltshot and they then go for spears and KO each other! Shayna Wayne is here! SHE BELTSHOTS COPE KILLSWITCH AND IT'S OVER! But there's no ref, so he puts the belt on his face and sets up a neck-break and chooses to just win it. Wow! This was one of Cage's best singles matches ever.
