AEW Dynamite 10-18-23 - Rated R Rebuttal and Sting's Announcement

Sting has an announcement, Copeland responds to Christian Cage and Toni Storm has a new movie! Penta vs. Jay White is out first and Penta has his anti-Venom gear on! Floor dive takes out the goons and CARDBLADE IS SAFE. Pop-up backstabber in the corner gets 2 for Penta. We get some vintage AEW Dark Taz banter with Tony and Jay DDTs Penta on the apron before a gun show for the LULZ.

Penta takes the glove off and CHOPS THE HELL OUT OF SWITCHBLADE! Back and forth! They go back and forth with chops and Tony and Taz go back and forth with Texas cities. Uranage gets 2 for Jay and a brainbuster gets 2.5. SLEEPER SUPLEX BY JAY and Penta lands Made in Japan for 2.5! GOD WHAT A MATCH!  Left hand of God by Juice and the Bladerunner ends it. This was a fantastic TV match. Jay gets both a BEST WRESTLER IN THE WORLD sign and a BOO THIS MAN sign before cutting a promo on MJF as J-A-Y! General Juice Wackiness about the ring and the Gunns have two words for ya - GUNNS UP!

MJF is with Renee backstage and he says that Jay White reminds him of the marks at Comic Cons cosplaying as World Champ. The Acclaimed comes in and Caster offers their help to Max later. Max of course shows too much love and ruins it. Shida-Sakura video airs before Shida eats some offense and lands a rana onto the apron on the floor. Tiger Driver by Sakura gets 2. Katana is blocked and a la majistrol gets 2.9! Tilt a whirl backbreaker from Emi leads to a Fujiwara armbar from Shida and the falcon arrow gets 2.9! Katana ends it!

Renee chats with Copeland for the Rated R Rebuttal. He talks about Jay not wanting to come to school and then sending him to get Jay and they loved wrestling. He talks about writing in to an essay contest and won free wrestling training because he wrote in and Jay didn't. He got Jay his WWE gig early on and you don't do that early on. It's always been Adam and Jay or E and C and it's not his fault or design. Copeland says he won't fight Jay. Okay, so we get a replay of Bret vs. Owen with Copeland HAVING to fight his brother down the line.

Wardlow has a 20 minute time limit and won't need much of it. Last Ride ends it via ref stoppage. He shows off his wrist tape showing MJF and shoves Tony down. Kenny hypes up Kyle Fletcher and says he's the measuring stick of AEW and they're match is coming up. It's starting with Fletcher and it will go onto the Family and maybe the World Title. MJF says 13 days, bitch to Omega in reference to him beating Omega's record.

Cole gives Roddy HOT COFFEE and he hates it but he could go for some PB and J! BUT HE KEEPS THE CRUSTS ON and dammit, Cole has had enough! Tony brings out Don Callis and we get a recap of Hobbs-Jericho. Hobbs talks about having a chance to meet Jericho and Jericho told him to sit his ass down. He gave him spinebuster after spinebuster and goddamn, he loved it! Callis calls Fletcher a scab who screwed the Family! Callis tells him if he beats Fletcher tonight, they can talk next week.

Callis hypes up Hobbs as the most violent man in AEW and Taz vouches for that. Fletcher and Omega chop each other quickly to start. Orihara moonsault to Fletcher! Fletcher lawndarts Kenny into the second rope! Michinoku driver gets 2.9! Fletcher sets up a back-facing calf kick to the neck in the ropes and lands it! Poison rana to Fletcher and the powerbomb hits for the V trigger! Only 2.9! Omega wants the OWA but FLETCHER GETS THE DRAGON SLEEPER AND BODY SCISSOR! Ripcord V trigger is avoided, but the snapdragon lands! MASSIVE RUNNING V TRIGGER BY KENNY! ONE WINGED ANGEL ENDS IT! A bit of a modern Bret-Waltman.

Lance Archer is "kicking his opponent down to the ring" and chokeslams him on the apron! Corner chargers and a RUN-UP KNEE STRIKE BY ARCHER before the inverted razor's edge ends it. THIS RULED! Swerve's video is hyped up for Friday and Nana says this is a big win for Swerve, but Swerve's not happy because he's not TNT Champion. Swerve says it won't always be Hangman that pays for his actions - kinda setting up a split here.

Tony is here to introduce STING on TBS again just like he did in 1987. Sting's out and does one more AOOOOHHH and he says the wooing always shocked him. He wants to say the word - but he wants to reflect first about all the years with Luger and the Steiners. They looked at the guys who shaped the road for them like Dusty and no one had more charisma than him. Hogan, whose name gets boos and he learned stuff from him. And he loves Flair because Ric made him. He talks about the word and gets a you still got it chant.

He says he retired before, but the 2015 one didn't sit well with him. And there was a key that he said in his speech is that nothing's for sure. He wants to talk about that word again here in Texas and on TBS and his first match in AEW was Revolution 2021 and his last match will be Revolution 2024. JR, Nick Wayne, and Nick Wayne's Mom are in an echo chamber and Nick says that Christian's a better father figure than his father was. They leave her and Darby beats their asses backstage.Darby beats up Nick on the ramp before Luchasaurus takes him down. Sting goes down and takes out Luchasaurus. He saves Cage from a death lock!

Best Friends and OC and Hook are backstage and OC says he loves having this belt again. Saturday, he's got something to prove. Dynamite battle royal time and Johnny takes out Sydal. Jeff does the Daniel Garcai dance and his little dance too. Poetry in Motion and Jeff's moving good here. MJF offers Dustin a few hundred to take out Juice! SHATTERED DREAMS! Battle royals are tough to make a compelling match - let alone on TV, and having Dustin's story throughout it helps.

CANADIAN DESTROYER BY DUSTIN! Dustin takes out Daddy Magic and then Garcia takes out Dustin. Max takes out Juice! Caster tosses him off the top and hits the mic drop! Jay and MJF brawl on the stage. MAX TAKES HIS BELT and Jay ballshots him! LEFT HAND OF GOD PUNCH hits and JUICE WINS IT!
