Mid-South Wrestling 1-16-82

The WWE Network has this listed as 1-16, while the Mid-South Wrestling Podcast (which I'll be listening to alongside this), has it as 1-15. Brian Last talks about Paul Ellering being gone from MSW now. Boyd Pierce is in a silly red suit while Bill Watts has a giant...pimp medallion...or something on his shirt. The Monk is in the ring to face Brian Blair. Oh joy. Blair is SO PALE. Jesus. Bill Watts's audio clip during the match on the podcast talks about how a big six-man tag is here on TV and that allows folks with handicaps who can't get to the arena to see big stars. Blair wins with a grounded abominal stretch to the applause of no one in the crowd. Bill Watts rants on air traffic controllers being so helpful to him.

Dusty, Andre, and JYD face Ernie Ladd and the Samoans. Andre works some ungodly fake-looking offense against both Samoans. The Samoans double slam Andre. Ernie gets double backdropped and Andre pins him with a splash-ish thing off the second rope. Mr Olympia faces Zapata and starts off with a long armbar. Olympia gets 2 off an O'Connor roll. Bill uses this match as a chance to rant on a guy he knows who goes back on bets. Olympia takes him out with a sleeper and a perfect sell of it. Bill leaves and Boyd talks about how Bill does so much good work for the crippled children.
Ed Wiskowski faces Tommy Wright, which should result in a rant on literally anything by Watts. He wins with a pendulum backbreaker that goes on for seemingly 20 years despite being three minutes long. Murdoch faces Bob Roop, which is another big match for TV. Murdoch does a bit of matwork before dodging strikes and getting in a big forearm after being in what I guess is a Roop blind spot. Murdoch kips up and Roop works on the arm for ages. Roop is knocked into Orndroff resulting in a brawl and a DQ. Ted makes a save.

Ernie Ladd is out in a green shirt and bright white pants for a big rant. Frank Monte and Jesse Barr face the Samoans. Big headbutts and a Samoan drop end it. Bob Orton Jr. is out to face Mike George. George hits an atomic drop sending Orton into the buckle before a Russian legsweep. The Samoans jump Mike George before JYD and Dusty come out for a save. Dusty cuts a fantastic promo on the Samoans.
