AEW Dynamite 7-22-20 - Cody vs. Kingston

Cody and Arn are mid-ring before Eddie Kingston talks about how Cody says no one can out-grind him and he talks the best shit on the mic in ages. Eddie grounds him and throws punches before chopping the shit out of him on the floor and in the corner. Ex talks about King selling his boots to pay his mortgage during the COVID-19 crisis and bought the boots he's wearing now yesterday. Cody eats nasty crossfaces against the rope before Cody works the knee and Kingston ballshots him. This is one of Cody's best matches in AEW.

Kingston busts out tacks and HE POWERBOMBS HIM ONTO THEM. Cody gets up and hits a ton of palm strikes and taps him with a figure four. THIS RULED and in one night, Kingston went from an underground God to being THE MAN on AEW. This wound up making a star in a single match - and Kingston did that the second he spoke and furthered it in the ring.

Mox cuts a promo and says Taz is a great cornerman because he stopped it - and he felt tendons snapping. MJF's out with Wardlow to face Griff Garrison and calls him Jungle Man. MJF buries him for being the Ivy League MVP when he couldn't even graduate finger painting class. MJF says he's undfeated and Griff says he lost a tag at Fyter Fest, so MJF bonks him. MJF whips his ass over and over and he threatens to maim him if he doesn't say he's undfeated - so he says it and pops him in the face to snap a cradle off for 2. Heatseeker piledriver ends it. This is a second star made tonight.

 
 Great Dr. Bitt FLIP IT REBA video. She compares her next comeback to the Jordan comeback to the Wizards, which Tony buries and she tells him to stop being an asshole and Rebel says she watched Space Jam 19 times and he always beat the Monstars. She'll be back at All Out. Starks is shown joining up with Cage to beat up Darby on Dark. Taz talks about Cage wanting to fire him, but he explained what happened and why he did it. Taz gives Mox credit for doing what he said he'd do. THE MACHINE ISN'T WIRED TO TAP AND HE'S THE FTW CHAMP.

Ricky Starks jumps Darby and Cage outside-in powerbombs him before Starks running dominators him. Cage goes to attack him with the skateboard, but Mox comes out with a barb wire bat. Womens tag tourney is coming up for the tag team cup. Why not just do belts? Jericho and the Inner Circle lament his ruined jacket, which he still has on. Bucks meet with Butcher and Blade in the kitchen and of course they wash their hands and THEN TAPE UP TO FIGHT IN THE KITCHEN!

They brawl outside the kitchen and of course Butcher is wearing a smock and no shirt. Blade is put on a cart and is thrown towards the Bucks for a lariat, but of course they move and he bonks a pole. Arabian facebuster onto a table. DOUBLE SUPERKICK UP THE ESCALATOR FOR BLADE! Basement PK on the floor!

They get tables out and chairs. Butcher goes for a pumphandle uranage, but Matt avoids it. Rising knee and gamengiri hit for 2. Sharpshooter/crossface combo from the Bucks. Butches catches one superkick and eats another. DOUBLE SUPERKICK ON THE STAGE! Butcher and Blade are set up on tables and the Bucks dive off the tunnels and win it! TREMENDOUS SHOW. Marvez talks to Roberts and Lance and Lance takes him backstage to kick ass. He puts a dude's head through the ceiling!

Diamante is out to face Ivelisse. They have some good stiff action in the corner before Swole sends a message to Britt from her home. Ivie works heel and cowers a bit before landing big chops and a cravate. Diamante gets a flash cradle and wins it.

Page is out to face Five and the goons come out to help Five. Page takes him out quickly and the Dark Order stews. COLT AND MR. BRODIE LEE JOIN them, so it looks like we'll get Brodie and Colt vs. the tag champs. Page says he appreciates their offer of friendship, but he isn't ready to join a cult - and Brodie tells him he hopes he likes the bed he's going to lie in. Brodie walks Colt away so he doesn't see this. Next week's card is hyped up and we'll get Diamante vs. Shida alongside other action.

Jurassic Express is out to face the Inner Circle. Jericho chops Jack in the corner, but eats a few armdrags. Hager and Luchasaurus are in and exchange teep kicks. Hager catches a kick into an ankle lock and turns it into a tag. Jack is back in and gets 2 off a rana to Jericho. Jericho back suplexes him down before Jungle Boy running ranas Santana onto Ortiz. Serpentico hits Luchasaurus with the bat and Jericho codebreakers him to win. He unloads an SSP AND UNMASKS AS SAMMY! OC comes out and the Best Friends send them packing. I love the Inner Circle fleeing - but Hager makes sure to kiss his bicep.
