AEW is back on the road for the first time in 16 months! JR welcomes us to the show while Cody gets a big main event intro and his American garb before QT gets a jobber intro and eats a suicide dive. QT goes for a middle rope moonsault but eats a strap shot. Dustin brawls with Solow and it opens the door for a QT low blow to Cody. Cody posts him and gets 2 buckles, but the lights go out for a second chalked up to weather before hitting the Lethal combination. Cody super rana turned into a superbomb by QT!
JR talks over Ex, leading to him to say "sorry, Marc!" and QT straps Cody! Hard strap shots to QT. RUN-UP CODY CUTTER UP THE BUCKLE! THREE CROSS RHODES and Cody hits all 4 buckles in succession - now THAT is how you do a finishing sequence in a strap match! Sammy-Spears recap from last week leads to Sammy laying Spears out backstage. "GOTCHA BITCH!"
Don puts Kenny over as the greatest ever and runs down who he's beaten just for the AEW Title. Don says they have to have an entourage just to carry his belts and the fans chant "WE WANT HANGMAN" before the Dark Order comes out. Uno gets a "bangkok" shot to the balls before THE COWBOY'S OUT! How can JR not bust out THE COWBOY'S WALKING TALL!? Tremendous stuff here.
JR chats with Darby and Ethan Page, with Darby running down that Ethan is jealous of him because in one year, he did what took Page 12. Darby says that he slept in his car and Page says that's true, but he plucked him from obscurity in EVOLVE. Coffin match is next week and JR doesn't like it. FTR and Wardlow face PnP and Hager with managers out too. Elevated cannonball to Wheeler! HAGER SLUGFEST WITH WARDLOW! Big Rig to Hager and Wardlow steals the pin! Konnan madballs Wardlow, but Tully chopblocks him - Konnan got off easy there.
MOX defends the US Title against Karl Anderson next week. Anderson NJPW clips air to showcase him as a threat for night 1 of Fyter Fest. MJF vs. Jericho faceoff has a fan marking out big-time during the singalong. A fan jumps the ring during a quick cut and MJF wants another one to come in and Jericho shuts up the Y2J chants and then says he should've let the fatass fan beat his ass. Jericho says he'll do anything to face him - including swim in shark-infested water or sleep with his mother...AGAIN!
MJF says he was inspired to take Jericho out by seeing Jericho take Mox's eye out. He says that Jericho calls himself the demo-God, but he's not in the key demo anymore! MJF wants Jericho to win back to back to back matches against four foes of his choosing with different stips. Jericho says that if he can't overcome the labor of MJF, he doesn't deserve to be in AEW anymore - but he is the God of Thunder and the God of War in AEW. Jericho signs, but MJF demands he shake his hand or the deal's off and Jericho Judas Effects HIM! Andrade vs. Sydal is next.
Britt chats with Tony Love Britt burying the entire concept of the stupid match last week. She says that Vickie's a senior and Reba's knee EXPLODED AND BRITT ALMOST DIED! She says that she makes TK millions and he'd better enjoy his blood money - maybe he can run Dynamite in Saudi Arabia. DANG! Dallas is the big D, but she'll make it the big DMD. Andrade's out in a Black Mask getup with his mask on - just like his NXT peak, only dressed as Black Mask and looking top-shelf. Moonsault miss into a kneedrop backflip for 2. Tree of woe footstomp is avoided by Sydal, who gets 2off a super meteora! Shotgun knees by Andrade and the El Idolo DDT ends it. Fun match! Double cross armbreaker WITH THE BELT AFTER THE MATCH. Okay good - he's a heel and should have a vicious streak. Christian vs. Matt Hardy - a main event on any WWE ECW TV show in 2009.
The lights go out and MALAKI BLACK DEBUTS and black outs Arn and Cody! Recap of his KO that instantly made him look better than he ever did on the main roster. Starks cut a pre-show promo and he has Starks Personal Security, with Taz getting an ECW chant. He says he'll take Cage's wife and Cage takes out the goons. OC and Kris face Bunny and Blade with OC getting the low kicks to Bunny pre-match and then dropkickng Blade once the bell rings! Nice delayed vertical by Kris to Bunny before a Bunny neckbreaker for a break.
Spinning ki crusher gets 2 for Kris. Kris squares off with Blade, who eats an OC crossbody dive for 2. AREA 451 SPLASH TO BLADE and it gets 2! BLADE GETS ANOTHER SET OF KNUX OUT and slugs OC. BUT OC ISN'T LEGAL and Kris Big Bang Theory's Bunny to win it! This was the best mixed tag in forever and a day. Jungle Boy got a trophy for 50 wins in AEW - that doesn't bode well for him or the trophy.
ATT is out and Dan says he's a busy guy and he didn't want to really come here to put over AEW, but he's skeptical due to AEW SUCKING. If he wants to enjoy wrestling, he has to watch Gordon Solie! He says he'd have to stop at Barry Windham because wrestling sucks now! He's basically playing the role of Jim Cornette, only he's a better promo. Lance Archer takes out Dan Lambert with a punch and a blackout! Penta, Alex, and Kingston are out to face the Bucks for the gold!
Brawling. Nakazawa eats the double superkick and Cutler gets beaten up. Okay. The panic-induced cold spray bit gets better with each week. Wazzup legdrop! Corner bomb to a downed table mid-ring to King! DESTROYER OFF THE APRON BY PENTA! Nick apron PKs a garbage can into Penta's head. Half and half by King and a run-up tornado DDT by Penta! Kingston chokes out Matt, BUT NICK 450S THE REF! Penta tope con hilo to the Good Brothers!
Cold spray continues while Kaz powerbombs Cutler and the Fear Factor/uriken hits for a visual pinfall in addition to the visual tapout. MAGIC KILLER ON THE FLOOR! Tacks by Kingston BUT MATT THROWS THEM IN HIS FACE! TIPPY TOP ROPE RANA BY NICK ONTO PENTA ONTO TACKS GETS 2.9! Kingston saves! SUPERKICK PARTY TO KINGSTON. SUPERKICK TO PENTA AND A MOUTH-FILLED WITH TACKS SUPERKICK PARTY ENDS IT. This match ruled! What a fantastic show - one of the best wrestling TV shows all year.
